What did you learn about local farmers and what they provide?
I learned that they produce delicious food that is nutritious, and they grow lots of cool vegetables I didn't know about!
Where can we find local farmers, and how can we support them?
Local farmers live all over our local community! We can visit them and buy produce from them in farmers markets (like in Solomons on Thursday afternoons), take part in CSAs, or encourage our local businesses to buy wholesale from them!
Why is supporting community-based, sustainable agriculture important?
Local agriculture uses less fuel and fewer resources to transport, supports our local economy and farming families, protects farmland, is more nutritious since it travels less far, and supports the development of an infrastructure for growing small-scale, sustainable food systems!
What did you learn about local, farm-grown foods and their nutrition? Are there any recipes or new foods you would like to try in the future?
They're so good for you! Full of nutrients and flavor! I want to try pumpkin soup and stuffed squash blossoms!
